The Tribeca Film Institute has opened the application period of four of its grant programs for narrative, non-fiction, and new media filmmakers. The TFI Documentary Fund, the TFI Sloan Filmmaker Fund, Tribeca All Access, and the TFI Latin America Media Arts Fund are all open for applications.

General Motors' Chevrolet has made another move, tapping Spike DDB in New York to handle its African-American ad chores following a review, the client has confirmed.

Sanders/Wingo in El Paso, Texas, had previously handled that assignment.

NEW YORK – Spike Lee will direct a live webcast of a concert featuring John Legend and the Roots.

The concert, to be held in New York on Sept. 23, is the second part of "Unstaged," a live concert series presented by American Express. The first was an Arcade Fire concert, whose webcast in August from Madison Square Garden was directed by Terry Gilliam.

All over the world people celebrated what would have been Michael Jackson's 52nd birthday on August 29th. Spike Lee and Brooklyn did it big in Prospect Park even through all the heat.
